We did it! Pride Toronto judges have given BearForest's - Bears in the Tub parade entry the TOP prize - Best Overall Float. It is the first time the Bears have won the prize in one of North America's biggest gay pride parades. Close to 1 million people came out to Toronto Pride this year. Our float had nationwide television coverage and if you caught the local news you would see me rockin' on the flatbed in a red jock strap. I'll never hear the end of it! With the help of the over 30 guys we put together something special. It will be remembered for years to come.
Bears in the Tub was a polished and sparkling giant Kenworth tractor, expertly driven by our own JammerTrucker, pulling a fifty-three foot step deck trailer. On the step was a nine foot tall inflated panda bear (with nipple rings), followed by a series of ten foot tall ladder frames creating visual lines surrounding a series of white balloon columns (to keep with the bubbles theme). Also mounted on the columns was an eight foot tall Bear. On either side was a 6300 watt sound system utilizing four high power full range speakers and two massive powered sub-woofers. Then came the twenty-four foot stylized pedestal bathtub, with an eight foot wide towel rack overhead, carrying twelve sexy bears, some of which were entirely naked, romping in oodles of foam. The bubbles were flying everywhere! As we passed the crowds, they would go crazy beckoning and cheering. We threw out 2500 blue and silver mardi gras beads to our adorning fans. It was great fun!
I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved. It was with your help that we made the event a success. The world heard our ROAR!
